Selling eco printing products

This blog is about selling eco printing products. I have been eco-printing with all-natural dyes for a good few years now. Being self-taught apart from support groups and books, I have now accumulated a lot of dyed and printed fabrics.

Living in London, space is precious. I decided to make products out of these prints. It also gave me a focus on how I want to move forward with printing. A lot of eco printers also felt the same way about whether to keep it as a hobby or as a commercial venture.

I told myself whatever it is I will give it a try and see what happens. Oh yes, having it as a hobby is completely different from selling to customers. I also found that many of the fabric stashes I have will just stay as fabric stashes and will never sell. It is also good to keep some early work to myself as well.

First, I look into selling online as it doesn’t take much to set up on WordPress by using a plugin called WooCommerce. Of course, it is possible to hire a technical computer expert to do it for you.

Initially the plan was just to sell online but as I have yet to meet much customers face to face it is difficult. My work is textile based so it’s quite tactile the feel of the texture it is quite different virtually. Being face to face with customers also builds connections for the future like courses and future work. It is building a trust and a strong customer base that is important. I am now beginning to find spaces in market that would take in first and early stages sellers and don’t mind one not having enough followers on Instagram, good pictures, etc. There is only one of me to do it all at the same time. Yes I could possibly hire help but it would eat up into the cost of running a business or startup. However it is something I would look into for the future.

Thank you for reading this blog post have a look at the products being sold on this website.
