Welcome to Makergardener.

I am Kar-Ling, a designer maker. Since young I have always been crafting and experimenting. I have been hooked and fascinated by onion dye since I was in school but back in Malaysia. I love science and fabrics. At the moment, I do have a part-time job as it gets me out of the house and have a social life. This website started as a personal blog so you will find there are a lot of blog posts like recipes and crafting not quite related to natural dyeing and printing. However, I am planning to concentrate just on those for the future.

I started growing dahlias alongside tomato plants, dyed the flowers and got a vibrant yellow-orange colour on cotton. That’s when I got hooked on natural dyeing and then natural printing. My early blog posts reflect upon my journey. I have always loved sewing and dressmaking as well. There are plenty of sewing tips here.

I am now selling some of my work as I have printed lots over the years. It is also for others to enjoy my work as well. Possibly I will be selling some products and courses soon. Here is a link to my shop here.

Thank you for reading and dropping by.
